Aikido, translated as the Way of harmony, is a Japanese martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs.
We offer more than just Aikido at the Genyukan
Walk without fear! Aikido requires no advantage in strength or speed, so it can be practiced by women and men of all ages and ability. Our Genyukan Dojo Doshinkan Aikido program has men, women and children from 5 to 110.
If you are looking for an art that embodies physical practice, theory, and ethics (moral philosophy and spiritual foundation) or a fast paced sport, then the Genyukan Shotokan karate program is for you.
If you are looking for first class self defense and personal protection without the punches and pushups, try the Genyukan Self-defense program. You don’t need to be fit to start and the training is easy. You can always go at your own pace and sit out at any time. We have lots of students and young people as well as a few oldies (but they are cool).
Dojo Community
Part of what makes the Genyukan Dojo strong is that our students and instructors are actually a close circle of friends. Many of our students consider the other members of our Dojo as their second family. We attract intelligent, dedicated people who are interested in working together and helping each other reach their goals, instead of competing for the benefit of their own ego. Dojo members occasionally organize events and parties together.
The Genyukan Dojo has an atmosphere of mutual support and friendship that makes training enjoyable and effective. There's always room for more!
